Situated just south of Santa Cruz, the valley of Las Breñas es one of the agricultural heartlands of the island, and whilst better road links have effectively turned the communities of Breña Alta and Breña Baja into residencial outskirts of the island capital, farming continues to play an important role here. Corral de Payo captures the essence of this region perfectly. This charming hillside estate now offers confortable holiday apartments and cottage isn a peaceful location within easy driving distance from Santa Cruz, yet continues to operate as a working grounds taken up by avocado orchards, almond trees and a small vineyard. The accomodation Hill therefore suit those who wish to be close to the picturesque island capital,and to its nearby beach resort of Los Cancajos, but who prefer to stay in tradicional , rural surroundings.

At the topo d the estate, with wonderful views down to the ocean, stands a handsoome white building divided into six apartments on two floors.

Each comprises a twin bedroom, a a lounge with an open-plan kitchen (with tworing hobs) , and a full bathroom. The downstairs apartments have terraces, whilst the upper-floor apartments have balcones. All are pleasantly furnished,offering practical, uncluttered holiday accommodation for a couple,with the option to sleep a adult or child in the lounge area.

In addition to the apartments, Corral de Payo offers three restored cottages,perfect for those who apréciate tradicional character. The two smaller cottages, Casita Lagar and Casita Blanca , each consisto f a twin -bedded room,a modern shower room and a cosy lounge with a simple open than kitchen.

Althouh fully modernised and comfortably furnished , they retain some charming original features, Duch as pitched wooden ceilings and Canarian sash windows with wooden skating underneath.

The largest house, the Casa Grande, is suitable for familias of up to tour people and is full of period charm. With its wooden floorboards, antique furnishing and original sash windows facing the ocean and the garden , the lounge is wonderfully homely,and in addition you will find a cosy dining room and a separate kitchen with an en-suite bathroom complete the accommodation .

The Casita Blanca is detached, but whilst the Casa Grande and the Casita Lagar are semi-detached ,the are build on different levels and thus enjoy a good degree of privacy. Each cottage has a lovely garden rerrace and colourful flowebeds abound throughout the ground,adding further to the visual appeal of this charming spot. Another feature worth highlighting is the old wine press in the garden in front of the Casita Lagar - if you happen to be visiting around harvest time , you can witness the wine being made in the time -honoured way.

On the terrace just below the apartment building there is a good size swimming pool , again blessed with splendid ocean views,which is shared by guests of the apartments and the cottages. Please note that, due to the fairly steep paths that links the different parts of this property, we do not consider it suitable for young children or those with walking difficulties.
